First and above all drama should be fun! It is a marvellous vehicle for developing self-confidence, communication skills, social awareness, imagination, self discipline and co-operation.

Starting with short delightful Nativity plays in Nursery and Reception, all pupils participate in regular class assemblies and annual ‘Year’ plays performed to their parents and friends, culminating in the Year 6 production during their last term at The Manor. The buzz and excitement generated by each production are almost tangible.

The timetable has been carefully designed so that all the children from Nursery to Year 6 have regular drama lessons. Children in EYFS and Pre-Prep alternate their Drama lessons with story and library time, and children in Years 3-6 have a weekly lesson. There is also the offer  of after-school drama clubs, which are heavily in demand.

Professional dancers and actors, visiting poets and musicians extend the teachers’ expertise and the children’s learning. A variety of other opportunities arise in the drama programme including drama workshops at the Globe Theatre.

We are delighted that The Manor has joined the prestigious Artsmark Award and has been awarded the silver status. Artsmark is The Arts Council England’s award for schools who champion The Arts. As an Artsmark school we actively celebrate across the curriculum including Art, Design Technology, Music and Drama.
