In the Art Department the children experience a wide range of creative activities. These include observational drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and textiles. The children also explore various types of three dimensional skills such as clay and wire work. Sketch books are introduced in Year 1 and are used to explore techniques, develop ideas and keep a record of their work throughout their time here.

There is a carefully planned scheme of work which focuses on skill progression from Early Years to Year 6. Wherever possible children are encouraged to take the initiative and develop projects in their own individual way. They are actively involved in evaluating their progress and enjoy challenge. This approach gives our children the opportunity to achieve high standards whilst having much creative fun.

To enhance the children's experience of Art further, they experience several Art trips to centres such as Roche Court Sculpture Park, Tate Modern and The Corinthian Museum. Culture Day and our Manor Arts Festival also give them a chance to embrace Art alongside the other Arts.

The School employs a practising artist and children also have the opportunity to meet local international artists who will visit throughout their time at The Manor.

We are delighted that The Manor has joined the prestigious Artsmark Award and has been awarded the silver status. Artsmark is The Arts Council England’s award for schools who champion The Arts. As an Artsmark school we actively celebrate across the curriculum including Art, Design Technology, Music and Drama.
